What should 1 bring?

When going for snorkeling in Zanzibar, items you should bring include Towel, hat/cap, sunglasses, refillable water bottle, reef friendly sun block, a bag to accommodate your items, a divers certification card and log book.

Do you dive in the afternoon?

Diving in Zanzibar is generally done on the East Coast and dives are offered in 2 sessions a day with a surface interval spent on the boat, the boat leaves in the morning and back early afternoon. In Stone Town an afternoon dive is possible for two or more divers.

Can we visit Mnemba Island?

Divers on our trips are not allowed to visit Mnemba Island, this is because Mnemba is a private resort and only its visitors are allowed to access the Island unless it is an emergency.

March / October-November

March/October – November are the best months to dive Zanzibar, in these months the wind is finished and the rain hasn’t started yet. In this season, visibility tends to be quite good and weather is nice and warm with the exception of a few showers here and there.

April – May

April – May is the official rain season in Zanzibar and in this season, the diving conditions are normally still good however it can be very rainy.

June – September (Kusi – wind from the South)

In the season of June – September, winds can be expected and with it some waves can result in choppy trips. In August which is one of the windiest months in Zanzibar, it can be hard to go diving due to weather conditions which cannot favor the diving.

December – February (Kaskazi – wind form the North)

December and January are the windiest months of the year in Zanzibar, these conditions can not favor diving in Zanzibar.

What if I have been out of the water for a while?

According to diving policy, even certified divers who have not dived for 12 months or longer will be required to take a refresher course.

If my friend is a non-diver, can they come on the boat?

Yes, snorkelers and non-divers are allowed to be part of our boat trips, however if your friend does not want to go into the waters. They have to pay the space on the boat for snorkeling.

What if I’m staying in Stone Town and want to dive Mnemba Atoll?

In case you wish to combine your dives between Stone Town and Mnemba or just do a day trip from up to the East Coast, we can off you dive in Mnemba Atoll as you will be having enough time to get to the site in the morning.

The costs for transfer from The Stone Town to Mnemba Atoll are included in our packages, we can also help you book a taxi during your transfer.

What if I’m staying anywhere else on the island?

Do you provide transportation from Stone Town to the East Coast?

Yes, we also provide transportation from Stone Town to the East Coast. Our vehicles are usually private vehicles with a full time driver who will bring you to the East Coast, wait for you and take you back at the end of your activity.

Can I take the public transport (dala dala) from Stone Town to reach the East Coast?

Yes, there is a dala-dala leaving from Stone Town to Matemwe on a daily, however we highly recommend not to take the dala dala since its departure times fluctuate. The dala-dala can and will stop everywhere which may result into delays.

Do you offer any dive-accommodation packages?

Are there any unguided dives with …………..?

All dives offered by ……………… regardless of the diver’s experience and qualifications, all our dives are led by PADI Divemasters or instructors who are familiar with locations to dive in. this is done for safety and liability reasons.

Can I pay with credit card?

Yes, we accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) but surcharge all card payments with 5%.

What about the tides?

Tides normally affect our boat trips in Matemwe, these boat trips’ departure time has to be confirmed the day before as it chances depending on the tide. In the low tide, the trip has to be done by bus for about 15 minutes on an unpaved road. In high tide, the boat will leave from or go back to the dive centre directly.

What can I do if am not diving?

During your holiday to Zanzibar, there are several activities you can do if you are not interesting in diving. Some of the activities you can do include visiting the Stone Town, do a spice tour, watch the Red Colobus monkey at Jozani Forest, go snorkeling, join sunset cruises, visit Prison Island, go for quad biking tour or go sky diving.

What if I have a pre-existing medical condition, can I still dive?

If you have a medical condition, you are advised to see medical clearance from your physician before participating in diving.
